What it is

CryoPen surgery usually refers to a CryoPen treatment — a procedure that uses extreme cold (cryotherapy) to destroy unwanted or abnormal skin tissue. A CryoPen device applies a very cold gas, typically nitrous oxide, to the targeted area. The freezing destroys the affected cells, and the body gradually removes the damaged tissue over the following days or weeks. Aftercare

Residual stinging, redness and slight swelling is normal for a few hours. Keep the area dry for 3 days — avoid swimming, saunas, sunbeds and heavy sweating. Don’t pick at the treated area. Use a plaster during the day in high-bacterial areas. If a scab lifts early and the skin is open, treat it as a wound and see a GP if it becomes infected. Wait for the scab to heal naturally — this can take several weeks — before booking another session.
